South Africa is so beautiful. This nation is so on fire for the Lord. It is quite an interesting country being. It feels very similar to America in many ways. There so many cars and highways. The prices are the most like the US we’ve seen the whole trip. Everyone speaks English here.
The ministry we get to do here is very cool and unlike what we’ve been doing the rest of the race. We have an awesome host, Sheldon, who is very connected with a bunch of ministries in the Durban area. Every day he takes us to primary school or a rehabilitation center for ministry.
At the primary schools we go to classes and do a multitude of things. We answer questions about life in America. They really like to know about stores we have and what snacks are good. We also tell them a Bible story or a share a testimony about God’s character. Then we encourage them to ask questions about the Bible or faith. Some really good questions have been asked like “Who wrote the Bible?” or “What does Yeshua mean?” They also love to ask us to sing or dance for them. Of course we say yes. Thankfully most of us have done kid’s ministry or VBS and are very prepared for this. I find it very fun dancing with them, especially when they like it.
Music in South Africa has been huge! They love their music here. We also are with the Worship Hub in Durban. They are so awesome. They host a worship night like three times a week and we go to most of them. It’s amazing how much people are looking for authentic ways to worship the King of kings.
I have so much faith that the people in Durban will seek out the Lord in a serious way. That their faith would become a real relationship with God and not just “the culture.” Pray for Durban to be a beacon of light, a city that people look at in awe of their faith!
Song of the Season: Elohim by Sondae! This is an afrobeats song that is very popular amongst Christian culture here. I love the beat and how it says “Elohim, El Shaddai. Elohim, Adonai” Meaning “God, Almighty God, God, Lord” in Hebrew. I adore Hebrew and this song is amazing! I highly recommend!
Prayer requests: Pray for Durban and the people running ministries here to continue leading people to the Lord even when it’s hard. Pray for my family to continue growing in their faiths as individuals and with one another. Pray for my team! Pray for my squad as we finish up ministry and prepare to head back into life in America!
I love you all,
Mieko
