Howdy!

It’s kind of crazy to think that at this time next year I’ll be back at home coming back from gap year. It’s a weird feeling because I’m sad it’ll be over but it hasn’t even started yet. As of Saturday, I am officially a high school graduate. I’m sad it’s over but beyond excited for what God has in store for me in the next season.

IMPORTANT: I started an instagram account for all things mission trip related. I will be posting updates and photos! follow @mieko_onmission

The month of May was wonderful so let me do a quick recap:

5/30 Hike with Dad and Baccalaureate Mass
5/31 Graduation Day

WOW! Give it up for May. We sure ended high school on a bang. The amount of growth that happened in such a short amount of time is astonishing to me. Looking back on the last month, It’s not like I’m a different person but it’s crazy how much life has happened in just a month. To quote one of my favorite artists, Zach Bryan “Life is what passes, when you’re too busy living.”

I just want to thank everyone that’s supported me in my life! You have been truly life changing and I will never forget you.

Yesterday I got my wisdom teeth out. Despite not looking nervous I definitely was. I have watched too much Grey’s Anatomy to be normal. But happy to report the procedure went well and not too much pain.

Fundraising Update: I’m currently 16% funded! TYJ! I’m if you feel led to partner with me financially, the link should be on this page somewhere. If you have any questions, I would love love love to chat with you.

Song of the Week: Swim by Beach Chapel (more of a vibe song, but good vibes about Jesus keeping you above water and helping you swim)
Prayer Requests: Finishing my support letters now that I have free time off school. Speedy recovery for my wisdom teeth.

Below I’m going to do a longer recap of all the events I listed above. Pictures at the very bottom.

Love love love,
Mieko

5/2 Coffeehouse: Coffeehouse is a fun event my school puts on every year for students to display their musical talents. They truly were so wonderful. I also got to just chat with some of my favs in the back and giggle a bunch.
5/15 Kickball: Instead of doing school work, my periods 5, 6, and 7 decided to play kickball all day. It was so fun. Truly a throwback to elementary school. Holy Cross dominated the competition with a strong 9-2 victory. Then as girls do, Emily and I did handstands in the back for 10 minutes.
5/18 Last Youth Group: A 5 year journey with my favorite people came to an end one single night. Knowing these people in this place has been the biggest blessing of my entire life. I would not be the person I am today without them.
5/20 Last Bible Study: The young hearts yearning for more Jesus on ND campus have taught me so much in such a short time. They are faithful and He is faithful to them. I can’t wait to see all the fruit produced in the lives of all the attendees. I will never forget Tuesday lunches.
5/22 Winning Senior Assassins: Three months of long nights, friendship, and betrayal came to an end one Thursday afternoon. Each week I was taught a new lesson. I wouldn’t trade that experience for anything and if anyone ever wants to play again let me know.
5/23 Flag Football: Being put on a random flag football team with a bunch of juniors and sophomores was scary at first. I didn’t know what to expect and if you know me you know I’m very competitive. And I really wanted to win. Luckily my teammates and coaches were just as competitive as me, if not more. We had such good chemistry and were the best dressed in the tournament. One thing this experience taught me is that there are so many awesome people out there that you just haven’t taken the time to get to know.
5/25 Ava & Josh’s Wedding: This was a magical day. Not only did I get to celebrate two of my favorite people but I got to do it with my favorite people. I’m so excited for what the future holds for these two. I know it’s going to be amazing and I will be cheering you two on from the sidelines! Love you bunches!
5/29 Senior Sunset: What can I say I had a great beach trip with my class. The sun was gorgeous and ocean wasn’t even cold. Here’s to many more beach days and sunsets before summer is over.
5/30 Dad’s Birthday: It was my dad’s birthday this day. And what better way to celebrate than to take him on a hike that almost took him out. Love you Dad!
5/30 Baccalaureate Mass: Probably my last time walking down the aisle with gifts. Last time serving with my wonderful group of Holy Cross Leaders. I love you guys!
5/31 Graduation Day: The moment we had all been waiting for. I got my diploma and the school service award! Thank you ND for all the opportunities you gave to me. Thank you to everyone who came out to support me on a hot valley day! I love you all so much and can’t wait for you to see how God uses me in this next season on the World Race.
