Xin chao! I am currently in Vietnam and it is Christmas Day. I have been here for a month and leave in the next two weeks.

Details about Vietnam and Ministry: Vietnam is a closed country, this means missionaries are not openly allowed. So we cannot openly evangelize but we can do other things. Our ministry is very relational and discipleship based. We are partnered with Cru ministry (Campus Crusade for Christ (CCC)). CCC is a college ministry for discipleship and reaching college students. In the city we live in, there is only one church so we know all the college aged believers in our city. Almost everyday we host an English club to help the students practice their English and create friendships with them. Our ministry is going to college campuses in our small city, inviting nonbeliever students to come to English clubs, and become friends with them. Then after a few weeks we will share the Gospel and our testimony with them.

Our host family is amazing. They are a powerful force for the Kingdom and bringing the Gospel to so many college students all the time. A phrase we use a lot now (because of our host) is “Too easy”. Basically saying that the Gospel is not hard to share, in fact it’s too easy!

About twice a week we get to do a Bible study. That is so amazing because we just get to grow in faith together. It’s especially fruitful for new believers who have not grown up reading the Bible. Some of the stories we read they have never heard before. Last week we got to explain what it means to love your enemy even when they hate you and who your neighbor is.

My new friends: I have met so many amazing people here in Vietnam. I look forward to every time I get to see them. They are all so kind and welcoming. They are so sweet and immediately welcomed us into their community. They also connect so well with nonbelievers and boldly share the Gospel with them through their words and actions.

What God is Teaching Me Right Now: What isn’t God teaching me right now? One of my biggest passions as of recent is fulfilling the Great Commission. I will be posting a blog about that alone soon. God is also showing me peace. Basically just having so much peace in His plan. I know that he is going to care for me always. Psalm 37:4 “Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart” Romans 8:28 “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” God is a good and faithful father. He cares for you so deeply and you can depend on Him to deliver you from all these. Take comfort in Him.

Song of the Week: “I Surrender All” This is a very popular hymn. It is so simple, but simple is all we need sometimes. The question I want to ask you is, “Are you surrendering everything to Jesus?” I ask myself this too. The Lord doesn’t want 80% of you. Jesus did not die for 80%. He didn’t only 80% die. Jesus gave all of himself, there was not a piece of himself that didn’t give everything. What is holding you back from giving Him everything? What is the 20% or 5% or 1% you are still holding onto?

Prayer Requests: Pray for the country of Vietnam. It is 80-90% Buddhists. They are constantly praying to idols that have no power. Pray that they encounter the Truth and can experience freedom in Christ. Pray for my hosts, that they would continue to be bold in faith. That God will continue to provide for them in any resource they need so they can focus on their ministry. Pray for the CCC students to be deeply rooted in Christ and courageously share the Gospel. Pray for the nonbeliever college students we are going to share the Gospel with soon. Pray their hearts would be softened.

With lots of love,
MIEKO
